Key Takeaways

Bluetape released the first comprehensive study on how agents manage pre-listing repairs, inspection repairs, and move-in repairs across the transaction lifecycle. The research reveals critical inefficiencies in repair coordination and what agents prioritize when selecting repair partners. Agents and brokers can download the report to benchmark their workflows and identify operational improvements.

We're very excited to announce the release of the 2025 Real Estate Repair Report, the first industry study to benchmark repair workflows, coordination practices, and operational priorities among real estate agents and brokers.

Why Real Estate Repairs Need Standards Now

In a buyer's market, deal protection matters more than ever. Inspection reports have become deal killers—15% of pending sales fell through in 2025, largely due to buyers walking away from repair issues. Agents who get ahead of inspections with pre-listing repairs are protecting their deals. Agents who don't are still juggling "I know a guy" contractors and hoping for the best.

But repair coordination has never been studied or standardized. Agents operate in isolation, each with their own system. Some have workflows that work. Most don't have clarity on whether they're efficient or falling behind.

We created this report to establish a baseline. To turn repairs from a nebulous operational burden into something measurable, benchmarkable, and optimizable.

What The Real Estate Repair Report Reveals

The research shows how agents currently manage pre-listing repairs, inspection repairs, and move-in repairs—where inefficiencies exist, and what best-in-class repair workflows look like. It's designed to help agents and brokers understand their position relative to the market and identify where they have the biggest opportunity to gain a competitive edge through real estate repairs.

Key Findings Include:

  • 68% of agents handle repairs in more than half their transactions, yet only 18% follow a defined process. The universality of repairs makes workflow standardization critical—but it's almost entirely absent.
  • 32% of agents spend 6+ hours per deal coordinating repairs. For an agent closing 20 deals annually, that's 120 hours—three full work weeks devoted entirely to repair logistics.
  • 79% of agents have experienced transaction delays caused by repair issues.
  • Only 46% of agents are satisfied with estimate turnaround time. It was the lowest-rated vendor metric.

The overall data reveals an industry that recognizes repair coordination as central to deal success but still lacks the infrastructure to execute it systematically.

A Note from James Bruno, CEO Bluetape

Real estate agents have always managed repairs. But they've managed them in the dark—no standards, no benchmarks, no way to know if they're wasting time or winning. We undertook this survey because we know there's a massive opportunity for agents to gain a competitive advantage through repairs. But that opportunity only exists if agents can see it first. This report is designed to create that visibility.
