Building A Better Way: My Journey And Vision For The Future Of Real Estate Repairs

It’s with immense excitement that I step into the role of CEO at Bluetape USA. For those who know me, or have followed my career through the pharmaceutical industry, into software, and then headfirst into PropTech, you’ll know one of my biggest passions, something that really gets me fired up, is building—both in the literal sense of construction and in the figurative sense of building a company with purpose and a great team. Bluetape offers a unique opportunity to meld these two loves, and I couldn't be more thrilled about the path ahead.
🛠️ Inspired By Craftsmanship
My fascination with fine craftsmanship began years ago, shaped by experiences abroad. In Mexico City, where I lived for a period and even built my own home, I was captivated by the dedication to brick, carved cantera stone, and hand-finished plaster work. It was there I became fluent not just in Spanish, but in "construction Spanish", a skill that proved invaluable when I returned to the U.S. and immersed myself in real estate investment and the repair business. Similarly, my time in Italy, even from a young age, instilled a deep appreciation for the artistry and perfectionism inherent in their approach to building. These cultures showed me what’s possible when skill and pride are poured into construction.
This background gives me a particular perspective on the American residential construction landscape. While the velocity and engineering of home building here are impressive, allowing homes to withstand significant environmental challenges, I’ve often felt that the attention to detail and true Old World craftsmanship sometimes takes a backseat. It’s not for a lack of capability – the historic row homes in cities like Philadelphia, where I grew up, stand as testaments to the incredible skill of the immigrant craftsmen who built them. My hope is to bring a renewed focus on that quality and care into the work we do.
🕚 Why Bluetape, Why Now?
So, why Bluetape? Because I see a company that directly addresses a significant pain point in the real estate market. The real estate transaction repair market – encompassing pre-listing touch-ups, post-inspection repairs, and even post-purchase fixes – can seem simple on the surface, but it's often incredibly complicated and frustrating for real estate agents and their clients. They become de facto project managers, a role they aren’t trained for and that diverts their energy from listing and selling the home. They face the constant challenge of finding reliable tradespeople, managing schedules, and ensuring quality work, all under tight closing deadlines.
🔵 The Bluetape Solution: Modern, Tech-Forward, People-First
Bluetape is the answer to this longstanding problem. We are uniquely focused on these transaction-specific repairs, offering a streamlined, one-stop solution. What truly differentiates us is our commitment to making this process easy and reliable. This starts with our ability to turn around quotes with impressive velocity – often within 24 hours – by simply uploading an inspection report or repair list to our website.
Crucially, we employ our own in-house repair teams. This isn't just a detail; it's central to our promise. It means we have control over scheduling, can maintain consistent high-quality work, and offer a "white glove" experience. We seek out established, local service professionals to undergo a rigorous training period to ensure they meet the Bluetape standard of quality and detail. We have high standards for everything we do, including field managers who inspect the quality of the work. We’re thrilled to be offering a new career path in the real estate space for skilled service professionals. Salary, benefits, continuing education, re-location opportunities, and upward progression. I believe investment in our people is what ensures excellence.
Working with Bluetape is designed to be very simple. An agent uploads their repair list or inspection report, receives a quote quickly, approves the work, and then our dedicated field administrator—their single point of contact and concierge—schedules and facilitates the project with our in-house teams. Our tech-forward platform keeps everyone (agent, homeowner, technician) informed throughout the process, transforming a fragmented ordeal into a connected, streamlined journey. This allows agents to be hands-off, confident that the project will be done well and on time, without delaying closings.
This isn't just about repairs; it's about uplifting the brand of the agents and brokerages we work with and elevating their position in the real estate market. In an industry where differentiation is key, partnering with a premium, reliable repair service like Bluetape allows agents to offer a service that's a step above—turning a potential pain point into a positive experience for their clients.
⬆️ Our Vision and Values: Bring Out the Best
My vision for Bluetape is clear: to become the de facto repair company for real estate transactions in major markets across the United States. When an agent or client thinks of inspection repairs, Bluetape should be the first name that comes to mind. While other services may be added to the Bluetape roster in the future, our core focus right now, and for the foreseeable future, is perfecting this critical niche. After six years in Charleston, proving our process, 2025 saw us expand into Washington D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. We have more launches planned this year, taking a measured approach to ensure success in each new market.
Underpinning all of this is a company ethos I deeply believe in: always do the right thing, genuinely care about your work ("give a damn"), and lead with kindness. I’ve been told in the past that being "too nice" could be a detriment to successful leadership and achieving our goals, but I categorically refute that. Kindness, respect for every individual in the company, and a commitment to doing good work is a powerful recipe for success. At Bluetape, we have a "no a**hole rule" that means that we're laser focused on attracting and retaining talent who share these values. Those who don’t are politely asked to leave. We’re building a company where people love what they do, feel valued, and understand their contribution is paramount. Life’s too short not to love your work. We have an amazing group already in place, foundational talent who I know care about our mission, trust in the vision, and have what it takes to turn this dream into a reality.
We want to bring out the best in our team members, in the houses we work on, and the agents, teams, and brokerages who partner with us.
I'm thrilled to be on this journey with Bluetape, to build a thriving company that combines my passion for home improvement with the opportunity to solve a real problem for a community I deeply respect. The conviction and fire in the belly I feel for this work is immense, and I can't wait to see what we build together.
